Despite the long experience that many people in the window industry have it is often true that they have little theoretical training in areas other than that of their own specialty. This means that they fail to see the needs in other areas that they can profitably satisfy. There is currently no other formal course available to meet this need for what is essentially high quality in-service training.
Newcomers to the field of PVC-U windows who need to pick up the essentials very quickly but also suitable for those in the industry who need to have a good grasp of the whole field.
On completion of the course the participant will be able to:
Understand the basic material properties of PVC-U and how these affect the design and service limitations of window systems.
Recognise the main components of a PVC-U window system and assess the system capabilities and potential from the components.
Understand the performance, quality and materials standards which are relevant to windows and be able to compare window systems on the basis of these standards.
Understand the application of various hardware types and the effect they have on operating characteristics such as safety and security.
Understand the initial installation of PVC-U windows and the subsequent maintenance load.
